Pinterest, have you heard about it? Well, if not, catch up! Pinterest is an online visual pinboard, where users can “pin” products recipes, photos and more onto category boards. Each of the “pins” are shared with Followers who can then re-pin, make comments and share pins with their followers.
Tips for a Business Pinterest Account
- Create a Pinterest Profile for your Business
- Add a Pinterest “Pin It” Button to website’s Product Pages, a button can be created within a Pinterest account. A Pinterest “Pin It” button will help customers pin your products and share the products with their Pinterest Followers.
- Add a Pinterest Button for Bookmarks Bar, this will let you “pin” other interesting items found online
- Add Pins to the Pinterest Business Profile that are relevant to your business.
- Avoid too much “self-promoting” as a common with all Social Media, over indulgence in self promotions can turn off followers.
Personally, I like Pinterest because I often come across a product online that catches my interest and I may not have the time to purchase that product at that moment, so I “pin” it and it serves as a reminder to make the purchase later. In addition, I like using Pinterest to find good recipes and ideas for my kids.
Pinterest Traffic Performance
I tested Pinterest for a client and watched analytics. I made a few pins of my client’s products to my Pinterest account and watched the referral links in Google Analytics. The Pinterest link referrals out-numbered Facebook link referrals for one month. I then had the thought that if my pins brought in that much extra traffic, then how much link traffic would come in if 10 people pinned the products?
