Blog commenting is essential when building an online social community for your business. At the very bottom of most blog posts, there is a link that will say “leave a comment”, “comment”, “comments closed”. This is a link that opens a page where the blog reader can react to a blog post. Bloggers like it when readers leave comments. Even if the reader just says thank you for the info. Often times, the blogger will have a setting on the blog which will approve or un-approve the comment before it appears on the blog.
The most important rule when leaving a comment on a blog, is never SPAM! Many blogs have SPAM software that will automatically filter out SPAM comments. When a reader simply leaves their website address in the comment section of a blog, that is considered SPAM. It is ok to leave your website and email contact along with the comment IF the comment section prompts you to do so. Sometimes the comments will be closed, meaning the blogger wishes not to have comments on a particular post. Leaving blog comments will gradually build a relationship with the blogger, which will be more beneficial to your business in the long run. For instance, if your business sells fitness equipment, search for blogs within the fitness niche, make comments on those blogs and add to the conversation. Adding to the blog conversation will build your online reputation as a professional in your field. As a result, the blogger will appreciate your comments and be more likely to help possibly promote your business in the future.
Have you made comments on blogs? How has commenting helped to build your online social community?

I’m so there with you. Isn’t it lovely when other bloggers get you though. I do think we take for granted they others know what we mean, when we start speaking blogger talk, i.e., Rss, social networking, tweet me. I’ve had readers tell me they don’t know what the little shaded icons are below my posts (my social networking buttons)
I just assumed it was common knowledge….right???? Thanks for such a good post. And as you can see I love to write/leave comments ..LOL
I forgot to write…my hubby would love to chat with all the tech moms. He’s really into Android “stuff” (I’m not so much). You can find him at: http://www.droidjunky.blogspot.com
Thanks again for the great post.
