Do Follow Links & No Follow Links-What the Heck Are They?

by techtalk on September 24, 2009

I have been reading a lot about do follow links and no follow links. These are important for every website/blog owner to learn about. Here is a definition I found on a blog called, Turbo Social Media.com, “DoFollow links and NoFollow links are code structures embedded into the link that tell Search Spiders (these “spiders’ crawl the internet when you type in a search and look for things such as this to pull up as related information) whether or not to count it or not in the search results. DoFollow links are counted and NoFollow links are not.” according to Zack at  Turbo Social Media.

So what this means is that when you make a comment on a blog or a post on a forum and you leave your website address, and the blog or forum uses do follow, spiders will follow this link to your website.  However, keep this in mind, when you make the comment on the blog,  Dan Keller’s suggests the following on his ezine article. “I do have one suggestion for those that comment on do follow blogs. Your comment must add value and not be spammy. Comments like, “good post” or “nice job” do not cut it at my blog and I suspect other blog owners feel the same way. If you are looking for a do follow comment you have to work for it a little and make sure you are writing a comment that is relative to the post and actually adds something to the conversation. If spam comments continue to happen at the same rate they are occurring right now then most blog owners will switch their blogs over to no follow.” I agree with Dan, it is better to build relationships with bloggers rather than jumping blog to blog spamming whoever you can… not good social media…

With that bit of helpful info, here are some lists……
