Listen up Mom Entrepreneurs- Valuable Technology Lessons Learned

I have recently  had some major technical hurdles.  As a result, I have learned from these hurdles  and I would like to share what I have learned with you.

Lessons Learned……

1. When creating your website make sure you learn about Search Engine Optimization. You do not need to necessarily know how to do search engine optimization,  BUT when you talk with whomever you choose to create your website MAKE SURE THEY OPTIMIZE YOUR WEBSITE using good strategies!!!  I cannot stress this enough! You want your website to rank well in google and other search engines.  HERSEO.com is a great person to contact in regards to getting your website optimized.
2. Title Tags- I recently learned about how to write a title tag. Each page of your website should have a unique title tag. Do not use the same title tag over and over. I found this out by using webmaster tools which tells you if there are duplicate titles tags on your website.
3. Learn about  Google Webmaster tools ….Webmaster Tools provides you with detailed reports about your pages’ visibility on Google.( info provided by Google Webmaster tools)
4. USE Twitter!  If you get stuck technically, ask a question on Twitter, there are several technically savvy people on there which will help you or at least point you in the right direction. And oh yes, thank them by re-tweeting their info or doing something for them in return. Remember social media is all about “you rub my back, I will rub yours”.

6. Make sure who ever does your web design links your shop pages properly. Also ask your web designer to  walk you through your hosting service, whether it is Go Daddy or Network Solutions etc. You need to know how these hosting sites work and how to access your files  especially if you plan to manage the website yourself.

Hope these tips help- believe me I have learned a ton lately through trial and erorr, so hopefully you will learn a bit from the advice above.
