Mompreneurs are busy people- keeping up with inventory, making contacts, keeping up with the kids, carpooling etc… so who has time to blog. Well, there are several reasons why……….
If you own a mom business, especially one with a website, you need to blog. If you are not sure where to start, find some good blogs to follow and read. Blogs are good to attract people and search engine spiders to your website. Blogs are full of words, search engine spiders look for keywords when indexing websites, spiders do not see images. Therefore, blogs make sense and are an easy, fun way to increase your search engine optimization and create a community around your product, store or service.
The purpose of a blog is to educate and engage. Engage your customers with topics that are relevant to your business.
If you have employees, you can create a business wide blog which employees contribute a variety of content. Before your employees start to blog, make sure you set blogging guidelines. Keep in mind, blogs are not the place for sales pitches, although the occasional post about a product is just fine. Blog about events your business has participated in or charities your business supports. Brainstorm and you will be surprised with the content you can use to fill the blog. A good rule is to try to post 3 times a week. Starting with 1 time a week is ok too. Just try to keep the content fresh and your followers coming back for more.
Blogs are pretty simple to set up, they just take some time. If you would like a blog to really help your website with Search Engine Optimization, use wordpress.org which needs to hosted and placed within a sub folder or your website.
