There are two ways to share a Fan page from the Fan Page itself

#1 At the top left hand side of the Fan Page it says “Suggest to Friends” (see image to the left). By clicking this, the page can be shared with specific Facebook friends, this will send a message to your friends’ emails saying that you suggest they “Like” the page.

#2 Way down on the left hand side of the page there is a “Share” button (see image to the right),this will send the page to your personal profile wall or feed for your friends to see. Using the share button is a less “Spammy” way to share a page. When it gets posted to your wall and it appears in the feed of your friends, they may see the post and then they can choose to “Like” the page. Nothing is sent to friends’ emails. Less intrusive.

Do you know of other ways to Share Facebook Fan Pages? I would like to hear your ideas! Leave a comment below.

If you already use Constant Contact to keep in touch with your customers, you can add a Constant Contact tab at the top of a business fan page. The tab will say, “Join my Mailing List”. The tab that is created will link directly to your Constant Contact newsletter sign up.

Here is an Example: Page with Constant Contact Tab.

The tab is simple to add:

Click Edit Page on the Facebook Fan Page.

Scroll down all the way to the bottom where it says, More Applications > click Browse More

Type in “Constant Contact” in the Search or click the Constant Contact Facebook Page here.

Then click “Add to My Page”.

Constant Contact will then take you through the process. You will need to enter your Constant Contact user name and password.

Once the tab is configured, a “Join My List” tab will appear under the + sign at the top of your Fan Page. Click and hold onto the tab and drag it to where you want it to appear in your tab bar, then let go. It should appear in your tab choices. Voila your done, now fans can click the tab and sign up for your newsletters.

Any questions, leave a comment below.

In your Social Media “arsenal”, it is important to have a Facebook Fan page for your business. CNBC recently took a poll that said 47% of shoppers use Facebook or Twitter in some way to make a shopping decisions. So you better have a page for your business.

One very important Facebook application that allows a Fan Page to be customized is a Static FBML box. When you create a Static FBML box on your Facebook page, you can simply copy and paste HTML code into the Static FBML box. If you do not know how to create HTML code, you can create it in a blog post on your WordPress blog. Simply click on the HTML tab where you created the blog post, this will create code that can be copied and pasted into the Static FBML Box.

I have used the Static FBML boxes to create links to newletter sign-ups, twitter and websites. The Static FBML box is a good way to create as many links as possible on your Facebook Page to allow your fans to “opt-in” to your site.

I am often told that doing Social Media takes too much time. Well here is a little tip that will help save you some time while doing Social Media for your business.

Did you know when you create a Facebook Fan/Business page, you can link the Facebook business page to Twitter?

When you create a page, you will automatically be prompted as to if you would like to connect your fan page to your twitter account. This is great because it can save you time and you can post to two social media platforms at one TIME!

When you make an update in the status bar of your Facebook Fan page, that update is automatically sent to Twitter for Twitter update! COOL!

So if you make a Facebook Fan page make sure you add this feature! It is easy to do!

Hmmm…. have you created a Facebook group and changed your mind? Don’t want it out there anymore?

There seems to be no simple way to delete a Facebook group so here is how to do it…..

First send a message to everyone in your group about closing the group. Then remove everyone from the group so you’re the only member, then click on leave group. When the last member leaves it gets deleted.

That’s it!

The album I created turned out to cost $5.98!

I suggest you give this a try, talk about another way technology can save you time!

Often times I have been asked about the difference between a Facebook Group and a Facebook Fan page. Facebook can be confusing when you first join. So without going into too much detail, I will explain the difference between the 3 different types of presences on Facebook.

A user profile is a place on Facebook for your personal information. The place where you can engage with your friends and keep things casual. You can add as much personal information as you’d like. There is a place for pictures, links and other random fun ways to engage with your friends.

A Facebook Group can be created or joined. Groups are formed by Facebook users around a common interest. For instance, Mile High Mamas, which is a website dedicated to Moms in Colorado, has a Facebook group to let members know about recent updates on their website. A group can be created by going to the Groups application and clicking “Create a Group” in the upper right corner of the page. All groups require a group name, description and group type. Groups are not circulated into the members’ feed on their user profile. Therefore if you want to see group updates, you need to go to the group page.

A Facebook Page or also called a Fan page, is meant for businesses, public figures or a brand. Facebook users can become a “fan” of your page/business where they can then interact with your business. A fan page is good because updates made on the fan page are circulated into the home feed of the users. When someone becomes a “fan” of your page, friends of the person who fanned the page can then see that their friend fanned the page, and they then can also fan your page. I manage a Fan Page for BornFit. I happen to like the Fan page because we can post updates about BornFit events, sales as well as recent blog posts from the BornFit Blog. The Facebook fan page is a great place to gain more traffic for your website and exposure for your business.

Do you have a Fan Page for your business. What sorts of things do you post on there? How do you like having a Fan Page?

Should you ever decide you would like to create a Fan Page for your business, contact me at techtalkformoms@yahoo.com, I have a Facebook Business Page set-up service.
